As you may know,
there is a
provincial
by-election
in Ottawa
West-Nepean (which
includes Bay Ward)
for
Thursday March 4.
There has been
little coverage of
this by-election and
no public
all-candidate
meetings have been
organized to date
(and there are only
2 weeks left to this
election!). As a
result, following
consultations with
some of our Bay Ward
community groups, I
am organizing a
public
all-candidates
meeting
for this by-election
for our community
for
7
pm on Monday March 4
in the auditorium at
Woodroffe High
School
(2410 Georgina
Drive). I have
attached to this
e-newsletter
a flyer you
may wish to use to
publicize this
event.
Your elected
representative to
the Ontario
Legislature speaks
for us on matters
involving health
care and hospitals,
education (including
schools, community
colleges and
universities), roads
and transportation,
social services, the
environment, law
enforcement, and of
course income and
sales taxes
(including the
famous HST!). Please
encourage your
friends and
neighbours to
exercise their
democratic right to
elect their
representative to
Queen's Park on
March 4.

Leeming Ave. in

The WTE (Bayshore to
Moodie Dr.)
Environmental
Assessment is moving
towards its final
stages, having
identified a
preferred route to
extend the
Transitway west of
Bayshore on the way
to Kanata (from
among 4 candidate
routes). The
preferred route runs
close to the north
side of the
Queensway (largely
on MTO land) with
little impact on the
bike path and
forested area on the
NCC lands south of
the Crystal
Beach-Lakeview
community. These
public open houses
will look at more
details on the
preferred route,
including station
location at Moodie
Drive.

Nominate that
special volunteer or
group for a Civic

It’s time to
nominate that
special person,
organization or
coach for a City of
Ottawa Civic
Appreciation Award.
Help us say thank
you to that special
volunteer in your
community who has
touched your life.
Every year, over
225,000 volunteers
dedicate their time
and expertise to
make Ottawa a better
place to live.
Volunteers have a
direct impact on
many aspects of our
day-to-day life,
including health,
heritage, education,
social services,
arts and culture,
sports and
recreation,
protective services,
literacy services
and the environment.

of Ottawa is
eligible for an
award. Please take
a few minutes to

children, helps
others or
contributes their
time and talent to
an organization in
our community. Take
time to stop and say
thank you to that
